Magnificent Mars: 10 Years of Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter

The debate of the week, it was around my ticket on the discovery of the most distant galaxies ever detected so far.

There was the Earth from above, with the famous book by Yann Arthus-Bertrand but this concept can be duplicated with Mars ... So that should take off this 14th March the European ExoMars mission, NASA celebrated on March 10 ten years of arrival in around the red planet's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO), launched in August 2005. Equipped with the HiRISE camera, which lets you take high-resolution images, MRO was to - and always has because it works even when the initial mission was two years - to map Mars with precision.

After some 45,000 orbits, the probe has sent more than 200,000 photographs, including highlighting the process of wind erosion, changes in the Martian surface with the seasons, sometimes capturing live events - such as landslides, avalanches or dust storms - and unearthing landing sites for future missions to the ground. Beyond the science, some of these images are remarkable for their beauty, purity and diversity of geological formations to be discovered there. It is now known, Mars is a little sister of the Earth that has not been so lucky. Nevertheless it is beautiful too. To celebrate ten years of MRO, I selected (very few objectively ...) ten pictures
